Asked directly if Daft Punk might reunite, Thomas Bangalter gave a one-word answer: no. In a June 2026 interview, he explained the logic behind it plainly: “I’m really happy that throughout our long run we were able to not screw it up. There are other things to explore.”
Life after the helmet
Those other things have kept him busy. Bangalter is currently touring his solo project “Mirage, Ballet for 16 Dancers,” and has played DJ sets without the robot helmet in both 2025 and 2026, including dates alongside Fred Again in Paris and London. He’s also set to team up with Keinemusik’s Rampa at Art Basel 2026 for an immersive audiovisual experience, another sign that his post-Daft Punk work keeps leaning toward art projects rather than dance-pop hits.
And Guy-Manuel?
His former partner isn’t idle either. According to Because Music founder Emmanuel de Buretel, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo is working on his own solo album, suggesting both halves of Daft Punk are, for now, more interested in separate paths than a reunion tour.
Fans can keep hoping for the reunion tour, but if Bangalter’s 2026 calendar is anything to go by, that hope will have to settle for a very good consolation prize instead. All things considered, a ballet and an Art Basel residency isn’t a bad way to spend retirement from being a robot.
