HUGEL’s “Movin’ To The Sun”: The AI-Born Summer 2026 Anthem

This summer, one house track has been impossible to escape: HUGEL‘s “Movin’ To The Sun.” Released in May on his own label Make the Girls Dance, the single peaked at the top of several official charts across the world. French dance radio station Radio FG also reported the track topped the Beatport chart within weeks of release. Behind that sun-soaked hook, though, is one of the more unusual origin stories in dance music this year: a track that started life as an AI-generated bedroom recording before HUGEL turned it into a certified summer anthem.

Who is HUGEL?

HUGEL, real name Florent Hugel, grew up in Marseille. Raised on funk, disco and soul, he picked up DJing with vinyl at age 16, drawing on influences like Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Daft Punk, Amine Edge and David Guetta. HUGEL traces his musical roots even further back, to hip hop, naming Dr. Dre as the artist who first pushed him toward making music.

What sets HUGEL apart is how many strands of dance music he weaves together. He’s credited with popularizing Latin house, alongside a hip-hop foundation and, more recently, Afro house grooves. On “Movin’ To The Sun,” the result is a hype mix of house and tech house: a sunny, hook-driven production calibrated for both clubs and festival main stages. The track later appeared on Twenty One, HUGEL’s debut album released June 26 on Make the Girls Dance Records, built around that same blend of Afro house, Latin house and hip-hop, with Spanish influences and Middle Eastern-tinged melodies running through it too: influences from well beyond the Mediterranean that come through clearly across the record.

The twist: an AI-generated original

The real story behind the song is where it came from. “Movin’ To The Sun” began as an AI-generated track made by an “artist” called Imael Angel, which found an audience on TikTok before HUGEL came across it and saw potential in it. He then brought in the famous American singer, songwriter and producer Ultra Naté, who he had already worked with on a remix of her club classic “Free,” and asked her what she could do with the track. Naté added the scatting and house vocal touches that anchor the finished version, turning an AI sketch into a fully performed record.
