The rumors were true. On October 22, the LEGO Group and Daft Punk announced a partnership that brings the two robots into the LEGO universe. It will cover products, content and brand experiences, and LEGO says there is more to come in 2027.
To launch it, the two brands released a short film in which the duo’s minifigures walk through a holographic world that builds itself brick by brick. It ends with the pair standing behind a console made of LEGO bricks.

A TEASER ON A FAKE RADIO STATION
The announcement had a build-up. On October 21, fans listening to “Daft Punk – WDPK 83.7” got an odd final transmission: a 30-second teaser showing a red 2×4 LEGO brick, with no explanation. Seen from behind, its three inner tubes looked like speaker woofers. The next day, the partnership was official.
THE FIRST SET COMES FROM A FAN
The first milestone is a set, and it was not designed by LEGO. LEGO Ideas has approved a fan-made “Daft Punk Concert” model, based on the famous pyramid stage of the 2007 Alive tour. The set will now go into development.
The idea comes from Patrick Harboun and his son, from Luxembourg. They started it as a lockdown project. It won the LEGO Ideas “Music to Our Ears” challenge in 2020, then passed 10,000 supporters on the platform. LEGO stresses that the model shown is the fan version, not the final product. No price, piece count or release date has been shared.
Cédric Hervet, creative director for Daft Punk, said the pyramid is one of the most recognizable parts of the duo’s visual world, so it makes sense that a fan design takes center stage.
TWO TRACKS FOR THE FILM
LEGO and Daft Punk went through the catalog to pick the music for the film. They chose “Voyager” from the 2001 album Discovery, and “Human After All”, the title track of the 2005 album. The film title plays on it: the robots become “Builders After All”. If you want to revisit that period, we looked back at 25 years of Discovery.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR DAFT PUNK
Daft Punk split in 2021, and both members have kept busy with other projects. You can read where they are now in our update on Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. This deal is not a reunion, but it keeps the robots in front of fans, old and new. Julia Goldin, LEGO’s Chief Product and Marketing Officer, calls it “just the beginning of a bigger journey”.
