French electro-pop duo Yelle (singer Julie Budet and producer Jean-François Perrier, alias GrandMarnier) celebrated 20 years of music with a sold-out 20th-anniversary concert at the Olympia in Paris on November 25, 2025, part of a short anniversary run.

Twenty years after they first turned a MySpace track into a phenomenon, Yelle stood on the stage of the Olympia, one of Paris’s most legendary venues, in front of a sold-out crowd. The 20th-anniversary show was both a celebration and a statement: the duo’s bright, defiant electro-pop has aged remarkably well.

Two decades of electro-pop

Formed by singer Julie Budet and producer Jean-François Perrier (GrandMarnier), Yelle broke through in the mid-2000s with the cheeky, irresistible “Je veux te voir.” What could have been a one-off internet moment became a career: a string of albums, a fiercely loyal international fanbase (especially in the United States), and a sound that fused French pop attitude with electronic energy.

A milestone at the Olympia

Playing the Olympia for the anniversary was no accident. The venue carries history, and the sold-out show, part of a short run that also included dates in Lyon and at the Centquatre in Paris, framed Yelle’s two decades as a genuine body of work rather than a nostalgia trip. The set spanned the duo’s creative decades, from the early hits to more recent material.

Why Yelle still matters

Yelle has always sat at a fascinating crossroads: too pop for the purists, too electronic and too bold for mainstream chanson. That in-between space is exactly what made them influential, opening a door for a generation of French artists who refused to choose between melody and the dancefloor.

Part of the French electronic story

While not French Touch in the strict house sense, Yelle belongs to the broader story of French electronic pop, proof that the country’s electronic creativity extends far beyond the club, into something colourful, playful and proudly its own.
